After applying thickened epoxy inside the crack, gently squeezing together, and removing any excess, check inside for any splooge getting in the way. The photo below, lit by a flashlight, shows a bit built up at the base of the port V-Tail bearing tube. I wiped this away with a popsicle stick before proceeding. I held the crack closed with more masking tape before applying the reinforcements. If you get any epoxy on the surfaces where the reinforcements will be applied, clean them off with denatured alcohol and dry with paper towels. If you don't do this, the next step will be less effective. |
