Installing & Customizing WorkManager

Standard LBNL Configuration (typically for onsite use):

This procedure utilizes the LBNL customizations for WorkManager by copying them from the local installation on FEDAYKIN. It is assumed that you have administrative access to this machine to perform the copy. Note that the customizations are still changing on a regular basis, so it is best to copy them from FEDAYKIN instead of some other machine.
  1. Install WorkManager from the CoCreate installation media. Use the ME10, AMSD, and PE SolidDesigner integrations and specify the Design Management EXPERT Profile. Specify 128.3.128.101 as the license server. Specify 128.3.130.154:9898 as the Database Server and specify 128.3.130.154:9899 as the File Server. Note these are both on ENGWIN1 but using IP numbers makes the setup more robust.

  2. Copy the macro customization directory from FEDAYKIN: \\FEDAYKIN\Program Files\CoCreate\WorkManager 11.00\desktop\custom should be copied to the local machine here: C:\Program Files\CoCreate\WorkManager 11.00\desktop\custom

  3. Copy the client ini file from FEDAYKIN: \\FEDAYKIN\Program Files\CoCreate\WorkManager 11.00\clntwin\workmgr.ini should be copied to the local machine here: C:\Program Files\CoCreate\WorkManager 11.00\clntwin\workmgr.ini

  4. Copy the client defaults file from FEDAYKIN: \\FEDAYKIN\Program Files\CoCreate\WorkManager 11.00\local\db_defaults should be copied to the local machine here: C:\Program Files\CoCreate\WorkManager 11.00\local\db_defaults

  5. Set the following environment variables for proper WorkManager operation (note that the "DOS Mangled Name" must be used for the path to all proper operation of the PDF viewer; the exact path will change with different versions of WorkManager):
    WMDT_DIR=C:\PROGRA~1\CoCreate\WORKMA~1.00\desktop
    WMDT_PROFILE=EXPERT
    WMDT_LOAD_RULES=1

  6. Optionally copy the shortcut: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\CoCreate\WorkManager 11.00\Client\WorkManager Client to the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu. Preferably rename the new shortcut to WM v11.0 for clarity and brevity.

Local Configuration (typically for laptop & home use):

  1. There is basically no point in running WorkManager from offsite or disconnected from LBNL's network. If you really want to do this, then contact me for help JROsborn@lbl.gov.
