The Cheetah

The Cheetah is the world's fastest land animal. Hunting for pray as an individual, the Cheetah can achieve peak speeds of about 70 miles per hour. But it can only run this fast for a few seconds at a time and so must also be stealthy. Cheetahs usually try to sneak close to their prey and then as their prey begins to flea, they chase the weakest animal they see and focus the hunt on that single animal.

Cheetah cubs learn to hunt by watching mom. Unfortunately, though fast, Cheetahs are not very aggressive and often loose their kills to hyenas or other aggressive animals. This leads to high mortality rates for Cheetah cubs. And of course the ever dwindling territory where Cheetahs roam implies that, like many of Africa's majestic animals, the Cheetah will soon be seen only in zoos.
